Album Review: Rockie Fresh – Driving 88

If you don’t know, now you know! Chicago hip hop artist Rockie Fresh recently released his fresh new mixtape Driving 88. It’s jam packed with mid-tempo beats and quick-witted lyrics that will be sure to get your head bumpin’.

This up-and-coming rapper has been making noise ever since the release of his mixtape Rockie’s Modern Life in 2009. Most recently, he has been nominated as one of XXL’s Freshmen 2012 candidates, sharing the list with the likes of Kreayshawn, Machine Gun Kelly, and Earl Sweatshirt. He is known for his alternative-rock influenced sound, although for Driving 88, it seems to be geared towards the new hip hop listener cumulative of the 808 sounds.

Driving 88 is definitely a record to check out and who knows, maybe we’ll be seeing Rockie Fresh on the forthcoming April cover of XXL Magazine!

Our top 3 picks from this mixtape:

1. Into The Future
2. Turn It Up
3. Respected
