NXNE New Music Recommendations

Last week BestFan travelled back and forth from venue to venue checking out some awesome new bands and artists who were performing at this year’s NXNE music festival. Out of all of the artists that we saw and met, I’m going to hopefully introduce you to some great musicians that you’ll love as much as I did.

Purity Ring:

This one guy & one girl duo that that make up Purity Ring create amazing music together. This year they played at Wrongbar and had an amazing turnout. They have been on the “indie” scene for a little while, but they don’t get nearly as much credit for their music as they deserve. Their music is perfect for when you just want to chill, because it’s not insanely fast or bassy. It’s a perfect balance of beautiful vocals and a bit of electronic flare. Some songs I recommend you check out are: “Lofticries,” “Ungirthed” & “Belispeak”. For more see the video below or visit their website [here].

HelloRadio:

These guys hail from New Jersey, and not only are they really nice guys, but their music is great as well. If you’re looking for new music this summer HelloRadio might be perfect for you. When I listened to a few of their songs, I just wanted to find a hammock somewhere, grab a glass of lemonade and hang out all day on a sunny afternoon. It’s easy going, light and a refreshing take on music. Familiar, but not really at the same time. I really loved “Navigator” & “For You,” so I’d recommend you check those out for sure! For more see the video below or visit their website [here].

Oberhofer:

These guys played at Yonge-Dundas Square for NXNE, but again I think they’re a little underrated right now! They put on an amazing show, and sometimes I didn’t even realise that I started dancing along too. They have an upbeat folk feel to their music, so it is easy to dance too but also to just sit and enjoy. Again I would say that if you’re looking for new music this summer these guys would be great. They’re well known for their song “Away Frm U” but I also really liked “Dontneedya” & “Landline”. For more see the video below or visit their website [here].

If you’re in the mood for discovering some awesome music, definitely check out the artists I’ve listed above. Some other notable musicians that I’d recommend you check out if you have the time are Paper Lions, Eight And A Half, Ain’t No Love, JP Hoe & White Rabbits. Enjoy the music hunt!
