Rita Ora exploded on the scene with hits like “How We Do” and “RIP” featuring Tinie Tempah. The UK popstar is poised to release her debut album, ORA on August 27th so to tide us over until then, here’s her latest track, “Roc The Look”. The title is an homage to her latest partnership with Jay Z‘s label Roc Nation. Listen below.
“Roc The Life” is definitely not the strongest that we’ve heard from Rita Ora. There is little originality, lots of blase repetition and for a song about being happy to live life, the heart isn’t there. With a look a little too similar to the unstoppable Rihanna, some differentiation in the future is needed. Rita Ora has been quoted saying her album is, “going to be a shock, but in a good way. I love Little Dragon and The Vaccines, but then I love B.I.G. and TLC and Destiny’s Child, so you can expect variety. No Doubt was also a big influence on me while making this record, so you’re going to hear all the ins and outs of those kind of genres.” Her inspirations don’t seem to be anywhere on this release but we’ll find out if she walks the walks when ORA hits the shelves.
