Flea, the bassist of Red Hot Chili Peppers, has released a solo EP titled Helen Burns for benefit to the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, a non-profit organization that aims to allow musical education available to all youth in the Los Angeles area. The EP is currently already available to be purchased for download on the organization’s website using a pay-as-you-like model. On August 9th, the EP will receive widespread digital release.
When asked about the musical stylings of the EP, Flea described the album to be far from anything “Chili Peppers.” In fact, the six-track album is largely instrumental although it features some vocal contributions by Patti Smith. In general, the bassist describes the music to be “[him] just tripping out at home.”
Make sure you go check out the Silverlake of Conservatory of Music website to get your digital copy of the album. Remember, you can also wait until August 9th when it will be available for download elsewhere like iTunes.
