Carly Rae Ties With Gotye For Most Weeks at #1 in 2012

This should come as no surprise. Goyte’s Somebody That I Used To Know was certainly one of the signature songs of 2012 – you couldn’t go anywhere, for a while, without hearing it several times a day. Well, for the past several months, that dubious honour has been Carly Ray Jepsen’s, for her earworm hit, Call Me Maybe. According to Billboard, Call Me Maybe has now hit its 8th week on the Billboard Hot 100. Time will tell how long it stays in the most-played songs of the summer, but I think I speak for most people when I say – I hope it isn’t for much longer.
