JoJo – Andre

I posted JoJo‘s first single We Get By off her upcoming mixtape Agápē not too long ago, but before we can even take in the fact that she’s even coming back, JoJo drops another cut entitled ‘Andre.’

The song speaks of a guy resembling Andre 3000. The track itself was written by JoJo and produced by Frank Ocean, whom JoJo has been a fan of for quite a while.

Though the song has a good theme and topic I did not so much enjoy the exceedingly poppy sound that comes out of it. With ‘We Get By,’ we heard a different sound that brought out mo-town and an old school feel. With this song I can’t help but feel like she is taking me back to the initial JoJo we saw delivering immature more main-stream focused music from 2003. I’m hoping that the rest of the mixtape is more like ‘We Get By,’ and less like this new pop-track. Regardless, her talent is obvious and I can’t wait to hear the final product.

Agápē does not have a set date but is geared to be released sometime in December.
