“Harlem Shake” Climbs the US Charts

We’re sure you all have seen at least one video of people dancing to the track Harlem Shake. But, we bet you didn’t know that the original writer/producer of the song, Baauer, is a Canadian! Baauer is a producer who released the track through Diplo’s record label Mad Decent.

The track has seen long-term success that they could have never imagined. YouTube videos have used the songs and created a phenomenon with groups of people breaking out in dance. It is estimated that there are over 40,000 different ‘Harlem Shake’ videos on YouTube with over 175 million hits between them.

This popularity has transferred into the US charts in a huge way. Baauer is the first beneficiary of this change in the rules and sits at Number One following 103million streams of the song in the last seven days and an additional 262,000 downloads. The track has also hit number 3 on the UK tracks! We think this is so great, so congrats goes out to Baauer!
