Alexa Ferr, at the tender age of 18, is marking her spot in the music industry. The “rugged pop” singer from Toronto has recorded in her hometown and in Los Angeles. You may already know her for her single “Fell,” which features Matthew “Mdot” Finley from the hit Disney movie, Camp Rock 2.
Back in high school, Alexa had the opportunity to go out to LA and participate in a talent show for singing and acting, where her career eventually took off. After completing call backs with producers from New York and LA, she returned to LA and later signed with Dauman Music/Universal Music Group. Keep in mind Alexa’s still a teenager, CRAZY.
I’ve had the chance to listen to some of Alexa’s work, but one particular song has my ear on cloud nine (is that a thing…if not, we just made it one). Anyway, “So Hard (To Love You)” begins with a great piano rendition and then Alexa enters with such a warm, strong voice that made me weak. What I love is that the acoustic version allows a simplicity to shine through and that factor makes all the difference – it defines a confident artist who isn’t afraid to stand on their own. Equally amazing, the video (see below) makes the singer look flawless. While she belts out those notes she makes it seem like a casual summer afternoon, in a park, eating a sandwich.
You can check out more of Alexa Ferr’s work on her mixtape Shades of My Lipstick (The Christmas Treats), which was released on Christmas Day via Soundcloud.
Keep on the lookout for this artist because she definitely does have the potential of becoming a superstar pretty soon.
