Everyone has an their secret obsession of finding new innovative music. Well, at least I do. I have a passion for finding great music and musicians, which are vying to make an impact within the music industry. Twenty-three-year-old English pop-dance singer/songwriter, Pixie Lott is the exact type of artist I look for.
Pixie Lott has what many call the perfect package. A sweet pop princess attitude, beach blonde hair and amazing vocals that are blended with the perfect beats, making each song one you want to grab your friends and dance to. Lott started singing at a young age in England, where she was born and raised. By the age of 13, Lott appeared in a musical in a London theatre.
Lott has been in the London music industry since 2009, debuting her first hit single “Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh).” The single went straight to the top reaching number one on the UK Singles Chart. It was shortly after her single was released that Lott debuted her first studio album, Turn It Up, in September of the same year. The album went on to reach a high of 6 on the UK Albums Chart, selling over 800, 000 copies in the UK alone.
In August of 2010, Lott debuted her first international single, releasing “Boys and Girls” in the US. Shortly prior to the release, US Magazine placed Lott on a list as one of the 2010 “Faces to Watch.” Soon after her debut release, Lott sparked the interest of the media, gaining attention internationally. Lott lived up to all expectations, having one of her songs released on the US television series Private Practice. Another single off of her album, “Broken Arrows” was used as a promotional single for the movie Beastly featuring Vanessa Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer. The single was seen on the movies trailer and end credits.
Lott went on to release her second album Young Foolish Happy with the single “All About Tonight” as the debut track. The single is a club track. A song where you want to grab your friends, have a drink and dance the night away not caring about what happens. It’s definitely a party anthem. The album featured notable singers such as John Legend and Stevie Wonder.
She is about to release her third album entitled Pixie Lott. The album’s lead single is “Nasty” was released on January 14 and already has over 2.3 million views and counting on YouTube. The single was previously recorded by Christina Aguilera and written and performed with CeeLo Green for her role in Burlesque. Though the single wasn’t used for the film, Lott subsequently did her own version.
Moving away from her known pop sound, the singer is now moving towards a new Motown-esque vibe for her new album. Though, if the rest of her album is like “Nasty”, you can still rely on Pixie Lott to get everyone dancing at your party.
Lott recently hosted My Playlister on BBC Radio 1, where the singer took over the radio and played her SOUL ‘Old School to New School’ Playlist. The singer played tracks from fellow British stars, Sam Smith, Amy Winehouse and of course, herself.
