SomeKindaWonderful is a band whose name you’re going to want to remember. Originally from Cleveland, members Jordy Towers (Vocals), Matt Gibson (Guitar), and Ben Schigel (Drums) met at an Ohio bar by chance and recorded their hit single “Reverse” a mere three hours later.
“Reverse” tells the classic tale of a cheating lover, but the twist (as the title hints), is that the story is told in reverse. The catchy chorus rings out: “I tell my story in reverse, ’cause it hurts/ Girl it hurts too much to bear/ But I’m tantalized by their legs and long hair/ But if I could do it again/ I would do it again/ If I could do it again / I would do it again / If I could do it again / Probably do it again / Could I get a do-over, over.”
By blending together a wave of alternative sounds and hip-hop beats, SomeKindaWonderful have been able to create a sound that’s somewhat familiar, yet totally captivating in its own right. Their debut, self-titled album drops this Monday, June 23 and is sure to unleash a set of tracks that are effortlessly modern, yet soulful at the same time.
With their stellar lyrics, killer hooks, and downright infectious beats, SomeKindaWonderful have created an indie, “grunge soul” sound that is sure to make them the band to watch this year.
