Well that didn’t take long. Just days after confirming that he will be doing The Hateful Eight, Quentin Tarantino and the Weisntein Company have given us the first official poster.
As you may recall, earlier this year the script for The Hateful Eight had leaked online. Tarantino all but threw his hands in the air saying that he isn’t going to do it anymore and really, who could blame him. Maybe after settling down and doing some tweaks to the script, we not only have confirmation that he’s doing it, we have a rough date too. With shooting slated to commence early next year, we can expect The Hateful Eight to be released sometime in 2015, likely in December.
The poster evokes the usual violent tropes we get from Tarantino, but what is most exciting is that little bit of text at the bottom of the poster, Super Cinemascope. The director’s 8th film will be presented in 70mm Super Cinemascope (if you haven’t seen Lawrence of Arabia in 70mm, add it to your bucket list). Naturally, you will only get to see it in that format if you are fortunate enough to live in an area that has a thriving film community, us Toronto resident’s shouldn’t have a problem catching The Hateful Eight in 70mm when it comes out.
The film stars Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Zoe Bell, Tim Roth, Bruce Dern, Amber Tamblyn, James Remar and Mr. Blonde himself, Michael Madsen. Check out the poster below!
