Vanessa Francone did an email Q&A with Doc Walker, who are about to hit the road with Blackjack Billy and The Road Hammers (interviews with them coming soon!). Read below to find out what they are a best fan of!
Vanessa: You’ve been in the business since the late 90’s/early 2000’s. Has country music changed since then? If so, what’s different?
Dave: Like any genre, country music is always evolving. From Hank Snow, to 70’s rebel country, disco country, 80’s pop country, to 90’s country with Garth Brooks, and then the 2000’s with Taylor Swift. There are always different elements coming in and out.
V: Your album comes out next week. Congrats! What song are you most excited for fans to hear?
D: “That’s What I Call Love”, it’s our favourite song on the album. We both have young daughters and we both have really great honest relationships with our wives. Honesty was definitely the main theme for this album.
V: This is also your 8th album…wow! Where do you continue to get inspiration from for your music?
Just being aware of our surroundings, we get a lot of inspiration from our surroundings. Inspiration is always around you.
V: You’re about to go on tour. What’s the one thing you need to bring with you on tour?
Chris: A big coat and cowboy boots. I’m lost without boots.
Dave: Face cream! I have such dry skin.
V: Are there any new cities you’re visiting on tour? If not, is there a specific tour date you’re most looking forward to?
D: We’re most looking forward to Vancouver and playing at the Commodore. It’s such an historic venue, everyone from Nirvana to Tom Waites has hit that stage.
V: Since I am from BestFan, I need to know what YOU are a “best fan” of. It could be anything!
Both: The Winnipeg Jets
Chris: A good rum & coke
Dave: Seeing old people holding hands
