A couple weeks ago a friend of mine asked for me to help her buy a banjo… a banjo she dubbed “Jethro.” Now, like many others I wondered what was she possibly going to do with a banjo? Then I heard of Rob Scallion, the crazy YouTuber who brought to viewers the banjo covers of Slayer’s Raining Blood and the video Metal In Inappropriate Places, and I gotta say, you will never look at the banjo the same way. He shreds, head bangs and pulls off machine gun riffs, along with stand up bass and straw hats.
Here he is doing it again in a cover of Slayer’s “Angel of Death” off of their 1986 album, Reign in Blood.
Slayer members are Tom Araya, Kerry King, Paul Bostaph and guitarist Gary Holt who has since replaced late Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman, and expect to release their first album in five years in 2015.
