World MasterCard Fashion Week came to a close on Friday and boy was it ever fun. I have never been to a fashion show in my life so for me this was a big deal. The whole experience in and of itself is truly amazing. From the time you enter the doors the glitz hits you right in the face and then you move into the lounge that just takes your breath away.
I was able to check out Toronto designer Stephan Caras who brought a Grecian twist on cocktail wear for his 2015 Spring/Summer collection. His eye for womenswear is superb, but his ear for music is equally amazing. Paired with the runway were tantalizing techno rhythms layered on top of Greek-style music. It’s safe to say from start to finish I was feeling the music and the beautiful models on the runway.
But back to the fashion. The models appeared effortless as they came down the runway and Caras was able to capture the image of a bold and confident woman. Most of the pieces were coloured white and gold and ranged from cocktail dresses to gowns to pantsuits.
The end of the show, however, had the crowd in awe. Kyriako Caras followed Stephan in the finale and reached out into the crowd to grab his daughter who was dressed in a rendition of the designs we saw on the runway. Believe me it was the coolest thing ever.
See you at the next fashion week!
