ALBUM REVIEW: Fortunate Ones – ‘The Bliss’

What better to listen to during this cold, cold Canadian winter other than some warm and welcoming new Canadian music. Here at BestFan we got the chance to listen to Fortunate Ones new album.

The duo made up of Andrew James O’Brien and Catherine Allen have produced a catchy and cozy that album filled with folk sounds and southern swing. Together, Fortunate Ones create a perfect harmonious blend with their voices. Their sound is pure, clean, and simple, but all full of  lovely hooks that will have you listening from the first song to the last without pause. The Newfoundland musical duo have called themselves Fortunate Ones because that’s exactly how they feel being able to release such a beautiful album filled with pride and images of beauty of their homeland.

The song “Lay Me Down” packs a catchy punch to the album, while songs like “Oaks and Willows” tone it down into a more mellowed out sound. Filled with stringed instruments, percussion, and the most complimentary duet of voices, The Bliss really takes any listener straight to their calmest and happiest place.

We recommend the album, but we want you to be your own judge – so give Fortunate Ones a listen and check out their album The Bliss, out today!
