Mad Max: Fury Road has been advertising for months, so it’s safe to say that it is going to be one of the bigger movies of the summer. Whether you are a fan of Mad Max or not, the trailer should get you excited for this upcoming entry. To further convince you to have some faith in this new Mad Max, here are the five best moments from the trailers that have been released so far.
5. The Cast
The cast looks fantastic. Your three main leads all look like they are having a blast in their roles. Charlize Theron looks great as this tough warrior woman, on top of having an awesome metal arm! Nicholas Hoult also looks like he is really throwing himself into the role of a bandit hunting Max. He looks absolutely crazy in the trailer, with such fantastic makeup and in this movie, crazy is a good thing. Finally we have Max himself, Tom Hardy. The trailer has avoided using Max’s name assuming that we can all figure out who he is from the title of the movie. This also doesn’t draw any attention to the fact that, in case you didn’t notice, Tom Hardy is not the original Mad Max. It’s a better choice if you ask me. Could you imagine Mel Gibson in this trailer?
4. Set Design
Speaking of makeup, the set design and costuming look amazing. It’s this perfect image that George Miller was going for in this post-apocalypse setting run by oil. All the cars look great, the props are fantastic and all the costuming looks fully realized. From the skull gear shift to the big bone masks, it is this perfect blend of crazy and desperate that feels like the pinnacle of George Miller’s Mad Max universe.
3. George Miller
George Miller was the creative mind behind Mad Max. He made the first three movies, but there has been a long gap between that series and this new film. So it was a surprise to see his name pop up in the trailer. With Hollywood rebooting a lot of pre-existing series right now, it’s interesting to see someone come back and make sure that if they are gonna make something new, it better be done right. If you if want something done right, you got to do it yourself. It gives me a lot more faith in this movie, than I would otherwise not have if I hadn’t saw his name attached to it.
2. That Tornado
That tornado looks awesome. With the new special effects that we have access to now, it looks fantastic and fits the crazy and chaotic tone of the film. In addition, the gas explosions are some of my favourite parts of the trailer. Those big, red and black gas explosions look so perfect in this film that it is definitely one of my favourite things along with this tornado. It’s not my favourite thing, though; that honour goes to…
1. This Guy
This guy. This is why I’m the most excited to see Mad Max.
