Day two of Field Trip Arts & Music Festival began at Fort York on a sunny Toronto afternoon. The wind blew the decorations hung from the trees as onlookers walked towards the Field Trip entrance. Today was going to be a good day.
One thing that set this year’s Field Trip apart from the years prior was that there was so much to do. Not only were there two stages to choose from, but there was a variety of things to experience besides the music aspect of the festival. This made for an all around fun day.
Fidel Gastro’s award-winning Pad Thai Fries of course has an honourable mention; but food aside, there were many interactive exhibits by sponsors Absolut, Grolsch, and Indie88. The Grolsch exhibit was quite spectacular as a long line of excited festival-goers waited patiently for their picture to be taken and then printed artistically on a 7″ record. (Show picture below).
Performances of the day included Marina and The Diamonds, Keita Juma and Brendan Philip, Andy Kim, Rhye, Hayden, Dan Mangan + Blacksmith, Father John Misty, and My Morning Jacket.
Our BestFan favourites were:
– Father John Misty for a ridiculously good stage performance
– Marina and The Diamonds for bringing the dance party in the rain
– Dan Mangan + Blacksmith for getting the crowd singing along louder than the actual band itself!
We had a great weekend at Field Trip Arts and Crafts Festival, we can’t wait until 2016!
