Rooster Teeth is hands down, one of the most important companies in Internet history.
Founded in 2002, before YouTube was even a thing, Rooster Teeth changed the way we look at how things can be produced, recorded and released. Five guys created a show called “Red Vs. Blue” which was… err, I mean still is, a comedy, action/adventure show, shot directly in the video game “Halo.” The show revolutionized the way Internet producers create the content know as “machinima” and in its twelfth season, “Red Vs. Blue” A.K.A “RVB” is still going strong.
Rooster Teeth eventually expanded and founded other popular YouTube hits such as Achievement Hunter, Let’s Play, The Know, Funhaus, and The Slow Mo Guys. Their horizons with animated shows also expanded with the award winning hit “RWBY” and fan favourites like “Rooster Teeth Animated Adventures” and “X-Ray and Vav.” Rooster Teeth have 39 series of videos on their own channel, and that doesn’t include the series on the channels of their affiliates. Impressive.
Did I mention that they have a motion picture in post production? Cause that’s sort of important. Founder Burnie Burns took to crowdfunding site IndieGoGo to get donations for a movie that they had planned to make; within two hours, they had surpassed their goal of $1 million. The project has already been filmed and now is just being prepped for launch. It’s speculated that its premiere will be held at their yearly event called ‘RTX’ (Rooster Teeth Expo) held in Austin, Texas.
