Kiehl’s knows how to throw a fantastic party – and a party for a great cause, at that.
The cosmetics and skin care company extended an invite to BestFan for an event/secret concert with special guest Lights, so of course we went along for the ride.
The event was held at The Drake on Monday, September 28, 2015. At around 7:30p.m., people were mingling and walking around with Lights herself, as if that was a regular occurrence. The doors officially opened at around 8:15-8:30p.m. where fans who were there specifically because they were huge fans of Kiehl’s and/or Lights.
Lights performed a gorgeous acoustic set of 7 songs:
1. Same Sea
2. Running With the Boys
4. Second Go
6. Up We Go
7. Muscle Memory
The songs were all simple in their execution and wonderfully fitting for the event itself, which was celebrating a hefty donation to a foundation supporting the love and livelihood of music across Canada. Highlights from the performance were “Up We Go,” “Toes,” and “Running with the Boys.” The crowd was appropriately moved by her remarkable voice, complimented beautifully by a pair of gentle acoustic guitars. The entire setlist
As mentioned, the highlight of the event was of course the fact that Kiehl’s started this campaign with Lights to raise money for MusiCounts, Canada’s music education charity that wants to keep music alive and active in schools across Canada. The money stemmed from a Kiehl’s moisturizer with a unique design by Lights herself. 100% of the proceeds went towards the MusiCounts charity and at the end of the night they were presented with $50,000!
