Happy Friday, BestFans! We have another round of our favorite, ‘Fresh Music Friday’. At the end of each week, our host, Sharon Bhella shares her personal stand-out picks of the week. With the weather being a little on the colder side, Sharon decides to gives us some insight into some of her favourite summer songs to help you get out of the winter blues! With these tracks, you can close your eyes, cross your fingers and pray that summer comes sooner than expected.
Watch the video below:
1.) Kes – “Endless Summer”
Okay so this has been such a helpful wake up song for myself and my work friends! Seriously, you can’t not be in a good mood when listening to this track I absolutely love it! I first heard Kes while carpooling with my work bestie and it has now turned into a daily thing where we listen to some soca every morning to get pumped for the day. This band is a pop/soca group from Trinidad and Tobago and the video consists mostly of lead singer, Kes Dieffenthaller living a fun party life and enjoying the “endless summer”. I am excited to know what you guys think of this song and if you love it definitely check out their latest single “Body Talk” featuring Chris Hierro -another great song!
2.) New Kids On The Block – “Summertime”
If you enjoy 90’s music this song is a must to add to your playlist! It was the first single for NKOTB after a long break and was released in 2008 – their first new single since 1994. Everyone looks a lot older in this video – of course (Jordan Knight was already 38 – crazy!), however they still had some great dance moves to share with their fans, ending off the video on a beach with some typical boy band choreography as the sun set.
3.) Weezer- “Island In The Sun”
This song was featured in so many movies and really does make me think of being on vacation. Probably my favourite two movies I heard this song in back in elementary school was Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s “Holiday In The Sun” and also “Aquamarine” starring Jojo, Emma Roberts and Sara Paxton. Its also been covered by tons of bands and to be honest, I have never heard a bad version of this song they all sound great! Check out Emma Robert’s version from the movie “Aquamarine” here!
4.) Prince Royce ft. Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull – “Back It Up”
This was the most recently released song on my playlist, and was the single that really helped build excitement for Prince Royce‘s album “Double Vision” which was released the month after “Back It Up”. The video was filmed in Miami in a gorgeous mansion filled with bright colourful backdrops and tons of dancing! The single was such a hit, they created a spanish and “spanglish” version as well!
5.) Justin Bieber and Sean Kingston – “Eenie Meenie”
This song brings back memories to younger J Biebs back when he had his adorable side swept haircut pre- “Swaggie” days. The single was included on Sean Kingston‘s album “Back To Life” and Justin’s album “My World 2.0“. Filmed in Beverly Hills, California with a spectacular view this video will make you wish you were invited to their party too!
And thats it for this week’s Fresh Music Friday picks! Hope you guys enjoyed these throwbacks, and we would love to hear your favourite summer song so be sure to send us a tweet @bestfan
