Alessia Cara – “Scars To Your Beautiful”

It’s a special day for Canadian singer-songwriter Alessia Cara. Outside of the fact that it’s her 20th birthday (Happy Birthday from Bestfan), she also decided to release the heart-warming visuals to her third single, “Scars To Your Beautiful”, which was features on her EP, “Know-It-All“.

The video was directed by Aaron A, who directed many of Alessia’s other videos including “Wild Things” and “Here”. The video focuses on showing and sharing love for all people including transgender, cancer patients, individuals of different ethnicities and much more. Singer JoJo also joins in as a cameo to show her support. Through the video, individual share their story on how they find their own inner beauty and strength themselves.

During an interview with Cosmo, Alessia explains how she thought of the concept, “I wanted to do this kind of video for a very long time. Since we had this song — and since we knew it was going to be a single — I had this vision of many different cinematic shots of different kinds of people. I wanted all kinds of people — young, old, whatever their situation, whether it’s visible scars, non-visible scars — just a bunch of different women, and there are some men in there as well because it can reach out to guys too. But I wanted real shots of real people telling their stories, and showing the story through little vignettes.”

It’s great to see growth from an artist as young as Alessia Cara. Since earlier this year, she’s been touring across Europe with international band, Coldplay and coming this fall she’s preparing for her “Know-It-All Part 2” tour with opening acts such as Nathan Sykes and Ruth B.  She maybe be celebrating her birthday, but she’s also celebrating beauty, her fans, life and success.
