Amongst the recent tragedies that have fallen our communities this week, dozens of artists including Selena Gomez, Gwen Stefani, Britney Spears have come together to record a tribute dedicated to the victims of the Orlando Pulse shooting called, “Hands”, which will directly benefit the Equality Florida Pulse Victims Fund, the LGBT Community Center of Central Florida and GLAAD.
The song is written by Justin Tranter and Julia Micheals and is produced by BloodPop, Mark Ronson and Justin Tranter. The song is beautifully sung and touches the hearts as artists such as Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Lopez, Kacey Musgraves, MNEK, Alex Newell, P!nk, Prince Royce, Nate Ruess, RuPaul, Jussie Smollett, Jason Derulo, Tyler Glenn, Halsey, Ty Herndon, Imagine Dragons, Juanes and Meghan Trainor touch on the issues overbearing our communities.
The tragedy happened on June 12th at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, where 49 were left dead and 53 were wounded after a man attacked the club, which is now known as the deadliest mass shooting in American History. During an interview, Equality Florida Executive Director Nadine Smith spoke about the single saying, “There has been beauty in the midst of our grief and we are grateful to these talented artists, producers, and GLAAD for helping us mourn and laugh and cry and sing together.”
