Singer-songwriter Jon Bellion has been in the music industry for four years now; he’s released four mixtapes, he headlined his first national tour back in 2014 and his debut album, ‘The Human Condition’, debuted at number 5 on the Billboard 200. And did I mention…he’s only 25 years old?!

Born and raised in Long Island, New York, Bellion had a passion for sports, but he particularly loved basketball. However in high school, his love for music also started to grow on him and when he attended college, he decided to enroll in their music program. Soon enough, he quickly established a name for himself in the local scene and after dropping out of college, he decided to pursue music full time as a career.

In 2011, Bellion released his first mixtape titled ‘Scattered Thoughts Vol.1′ through his Facebook page and surprisingly, got over 11,000 downloads, which led him to signing with record label Visionary Music Group the following year. Not only does he write and produce his own music, but he’s also known for writing the chorus for the hit song ‘The Monster’ by Eminem, for producing ‘Trumpets’ by Jason Derulo, and for being featured on Zedd’s song titled ‘Beautiful Now’ . The singer has often mentioned that some of his musical influences are Timbaland, Pharrell, J Dilla and Eminem; yet, there is one artist that he considers to be one of his biggest inspirations, and that is none other than Kanye West. He says West is the reason he dropped out of college, after the release of ‘College Dropout’, choosing to learn about his passion through experiences rather than through a system.

Growing up, Bellion would listen to different kinds of music, from Sum 41, to Jay-Z, to Deathcab for Cutie, which would explain why his musical genre is best described as ‘no genre’. While listening to a few of his songs, I realized that his music is a mix of contemporary pop, with a little R&B and hip hop (he’ll throw in a rap verse once in awhile too!). Still, there really isn’t just one sound for him; there’s a little bit of everything. With the recent release of his album, the musician states that it’s basically about him being human, going through life, experiencing different situations that nobody really talks about and being honest about it. It makes him feel better when doing so because he knows it’ll also make people feel better about themselves.

Jon Bellion is continuing to grow his fanbase and exposure across North America and we’re excited to see what he brings to the table these coming years. He released a EP called, “The Definition”, which features 5-track, which has just over 10 million total plays on Soundcloud.
