This year marked the 18th annual Teen Choice Awards! The fan-decided awards show was hosted by John Cena and Victoria Justice at The Forum in Inglewood, Calirfornia. Check out our top 5 favourite moments from the show below
1. Victoria Justice’s Entrance
Victoia made her grand entrance as co-host of the night by getting carried to the stage like a queen. She also wore a brightly coloured wrestling outfit and challenged John Cena to a wresting fight.
2. Teen Choice Backstage Lounge
This was one of my favourite parts of the show, because the celebrities seem less nervous compared to being on stage and you get to see them play some fun games. Eva Gutowski, Joey Graceffa and Gabbie Hanna were just a few of the YouTubers I was excited to see make appearances at the Teen Choice Awards through the Backstage Lounge.
3. Inaugural Decade Award presented to Justin Timberlake
Justin Timberlake was presented the first ever decade award at this year’s Teen Choice- and we’re pretty sure his speech could not have been more perfect. He gave a loving message to teens and talked about how much their actions matter. He also quoted Muhammed Ali several times including “Impossible is not a fact, it’s an opinion. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” He also suggested for kids to be kind to their parents, and as a new dad his speech was all around very sweet and inspiring.
4. Choice WebStar Awards
I was so happy to see our Canadian girl Lilly Singh aka Superwoman win the Choice WebStar Female award! Even though she is currently in Italy and wasn’t there in person to accept the award, she posted an Instagram picture this morning writing out her thank you speech.
The Choice WebStar Male award went to The Dolan Twins who were almost speechless on the stage. Was great to see these hardworking YouTubers winning Teen Choice Awards!
5. Jessica Alba and Ne-Yo honour recent shooting victims
Ne-Yo performed a soulful cover of Marvin Graye’s “What’s Going On” in honour of the victims of this years shootings across the States. Jessica Alba introduced family member’s of these victims and told a bit of each person’s story, ending off with a plea to end gun violence.
