Alberta’s very own Georgia rocked the stage during WemFest. She had a powerful voice singing a lot of her original music from her latest EP “Hold her Tight” which consisted of her singles called “Hold Her Tight”, Take Me Down, and Dreamers. Georgia was one of the only acts that had a complete band, as they all displayed their talents during her set.
Small town Canadian artist Ryland James had a fantastic reception as he debuted his first performance at WEM Fest this weekend. Ryland is known for his covers found on his youtube channel, which some of them he preformed. The covers he preformed were Treat you Better by Shawn Mendes and Wild Things by Alessia Cara following up with an original called Shot at Love. Ryland is definitely a young artist for us to keep our eyes on.
Platinum recording-artist, Francesco Yates shared his vocal abilities at WEMFest. The crowd went crazy for his Better to Be Loved and Sugar performances. He did take this performance acoustically and had the entire mall in awe as they watched him preform. I did enjoy the acoustic style of sugar and I look forward to future music by Francesco.
The event consisted of activities such as, Sport Chek who had a live fitness boot camp, London Drugs which had a photoshoot booth set up, Springfree Trampolines displayed the safest trampolines in the world as they had fans jump around with interactive games, & Microsoft showcased their latest technology in gaming.
Virgin Radio host Ian and our very own host Devo, rocked the stage leading this years WEM Fest to nothing but high energy and entertainment, as they broke it down with Kore Dance Studio in a dance battle towards the end of the event. The crowd loved the dance battle as they whipped out their phones to capture the moment.
Also an exclusive seminar on how to grow your social media & start your own youtube channel was also lead by Devo through out the show, giving fans the scoop on how to start a career in the digital world. One of the most commonly shared secrets to growing your socials is consistency, and being yourself. Understanding certain prime times to post on your social media is also key to growing your fan base. These were some of the things Devo shared during this seminar.
Through out the seminar, the most common question asked was “how do I get started”. The suggestion I had was what ever social media platform interested you the most, was the one you should get started with, via Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Vine or YouTube. See which one fits your style and create the world you want to share with others.
