Selena Jasmine and Sharon Bhella attended this year’s Pink Shirt Day concert and caught up with Meg DeAngelis (MayBaby), Tyler Shaw and Ryland James. In support of the cause behind this year’s Pink Shirt Day, Selena and Sharon chatted with the buzzing stars about how they choose to spread to kindness, their experience with bullies growing up and much more.
Meg DeAngelis is a bright young YouTuber and actress who covering all things “girl empowering” and encourages her viewers to be confident in themselves. She has starred in all 4 seasons of the hit series, Royal Crush, was a lead actress in the feature length film Dance Camp from YouTube and Awesomeness Films, self-directed a mini series titled It’s a Girl Thing, launched a PBteen collection and voiced the role of Moxie in DreamWorks’ film Trolls alongside Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, Zooey Deschanel, Russell Brand, James Corden, and Gwen Stefani.
23-year-old, Toronto-based singer/songwriter, Tyler Shaw is no stranger to us as we’ve worked countlessly on several events and have had several interviews with the young star since his 2012 debut single “Kiss Goodnight,” Right before our eyes, Shaw has continued to grow as a star in the Canadian pop scene. He has earned himself a MMVA nomination in 2013 for “Video of the Year”, an impressive JUNO Award nomination for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and he’s currently working on his studio album, which some say maybe released this year.
Ryland James is a newcomer to the scene as he brings his small-town values to the big city. His dreams are about to take flight and he’s ready to go big. He was famed YouTube cover artists, who soon grew to garner more than 20,000 followers and 30,000 YouTube subscribes.
As a part of the month-long “Love is in the Air” campaign at Vaughan Mills Shopping Centre, the concert is one of four initiatives dedicated to promoting messages of peace and love. Other campaigns running this month include a Love Lock Wall, a “Kindness Never Goes Out of Style” Pop-Up Store and a Family Day “Stroll Down the Streets of Paris” event. The Love Lock Wall initiative is donating 100% of proceeds to SickKids Foundation and the Pink Shirt Kindness initiative is focused on empowering youth to make their mark and stand up to bullying.
