After sending fans on a wild scavenger hunt across New Zealand, debuting mysterious clips over social media and visuals on building walls – we finally have debut release of Lorde‘s brand new single.
Today (Mar 2), she debuts, “Green Light” off her upcoming sophomore album, “Melodrama“. In addition, alongside the new single she has also decided to release the music video. The music video is directed by Grant Singer and has the 20-year-old singer with her head out of a black SUV as sings about a yearning. “I can’t let go, I’m waiting for it, that green light / How I wish I could get my things and just let go.” The video continues with Lorde looking for her ‘green light’ until the sun comes up.
The “Royals” singer explained over Twitter that this new single is “very different, kinda of unexpected. It is complex, funny and sad and joyous and it’ll make you dance”. The release will be her first since her debut record, “Pure Heroine“, which was released in 2013.
Lorde will be joining the crew at Saturday Night Live on March 11th as a musical guest and she is expected to take the stage at Coachella, Bonnaroo and Governor’s Ball.
