Mutari – “Switch Up”

Mutari Switch Up

German born, Toronto-based emcee, Mutari has been making waves in the R&B and hip-hop genre. The artist recently just dropped “Switch Up”, his first single off his forthcoming EP titled, Berlin.

“Switch Up” is a slow, smooth ballad bringing a different side of Mutari’s vocal abilities to the forefront and a definite departure from the artists’ more trap heavy tracks. This track is giving us some serious feels – showing his audience a more real side of his struggles and a more multi-dimensional side of Mutari‘s sound.

Mutari collaborates with Toronto producer Sascha over an icy guitar instrumental. Sacha’s melodies provide the perfect soundtrack to Mutari‘s storytelling with a light snare drum. “Switch Up” discusses Mutari‘s experience of a love story went wrong. The song  opens up about Mutari‘s experience with a lover who decides to switch up her feelings and gives out mixed signals over a relationship that is on the verge of crumbling. “Why do I got to think about you” he sings.

It’s exciting to see Mutari experimenting with his sound giving the audience a a more vulnerable glance into his persona. Mutari is set to perform at the Mod Club Theatre in Toronto on May 10th, opening for rapper/singer, Pryde along with Toronto heavy hitter Rajan on the bill, as well.

This concert is a must-see bringing the GTA’s up and coming artists to the forefront – Get your tickets here
