This years Boots & Hearts was filled with many surprises! On Friday to start the weekend, we got to see some great local talent perform on the Front Porch Stage like Andrew Hyatt & Jessica Mitchell. After wards we headed to the main stage where we saw Endless Summer & Frankie Ballard. As the evening starting to roll in, A severe thunderstorm warning was released which caused the park to be evacuated for almost two hours. Durning this evacuation, Dan + Shay and Keith Urban were waiting patiently to perform. Luckily once the weather calmed down, we got the all clear to head back outside and managed to see Keith Urban followed by Dan + Shay afterward. During Keith Urban’s performance, he signed one of his guitars and gave it away to one very lucky fan! Keith Urban’s set was definitely the highlight of the evening.
On the Saturday, we took a tour of the festival and got to see what was in store for the Boots & Hearts weekend. This year there was a new addition which was the beach area. Here they had beach volleyball set up and also a bunch of beach chairs for festival goers to tan and enjoy a cool drink. There were also many different activities in store like the Bull Horn Rope Toss which allowed you to win some Boots & Hearts gear if you successfully caught the bull horn with the rope. There was also the football toss, twister, beanie bag toss and Jenga. Festival attendees were definitely prepared fashion-wise too! We saw tons of people wearing cowboy hats, cowboy boots, plaid shirts and daisey dukes. It definitely felt like I was at a Nashville festival.
We also were able to catch performaces by Patrick Dorie, The Abrams, Nice Horse, JJ Shiplett, Jesse Gold, Aubrie Sellers, Chad Brownlee, Tucker Beathard and Eli Young Band. The final performer was Brantley Gilbert and he did an amazing job. He got the crowed pumped and we were able to get some great shots aswell. After his performace, I got to attend a hoedown afterparty where I got to see people line dancing to great country music. Being a country lover myself, this party was definitely a great vibe and was a great way to end the night.
Onto the last day, Sunday! There were tons of food options, I ordered this amazing mexican veal sandwich followed by their homemade churros. There many different food trucks to choose from which allowed festival goers to experience different food from several cultures. Also being that we were in Canada, there were many different Poutine trucks.
On the last day we got to see performances by Alee, Tomi Swick, Dani Strong, Kelly Prescott, Delta Rae, Midland, Cold Creek County & Brett Eldredge. All of these performers were great and made me love country music even more. Luke Bryan was the last headliner to perform and it was the best way to end our Boots & hearts experience. He managed to get the whole crowed to sing Sweet Caroline with him and it was simply amazing to be there to experience it.
I definitely cannot wait to attend again next year. After this weekend I love country music even more and I was introduced to many different singers which allowed me to broden my view of country music.
