We had the chance to catch Lauv during his first ever world tour as he made a stop in Toronto this week to a completely sold out show at the Mod Club. I thought his music was good when I listened on Spotify but now that I’ve seen him perform live, I have a complete new appreciation for Lauv. If you ever have a chance to attend his show do not miss out!
Ari Leff has been very much involved in the music world since his early teens and attended NYU where he studied music technology. Leff has helped produce and write music for many artists including Demi Lovato, Charli XCX and Cheat Codes. He also signed to the publishing company Prescription Songs while studying at NYU.
During Leff’s third year of college he released “The Other” and started his solo project as Lauv where things really started to fall into place. He says “Before I started making music as Lauv, I’d lost that sense of who I really was for a while. It seems like a lot of people lose touch with that forever, and end up living a life that’s not really true to who they are. By being so honest in my songs, I want to encourage people to be okay with who they are and what they feel. More than anything else, that’s what drives me to create music in a massive way.”
We were completely blown away but his performance at the Mod Club – everything looked and sounded amazing, the lighting, the stage setup and most importantly his voice- just an overall amazing experience. It’s no surprise that almost all of his dates on this world tour are completely sold out- with multiple shows in Japan, UK, Germany, Australia to name a few.
